Origin:
The eckstein brings a sense of home and tradition through the red clinker brick that characterizes Münster's cityscape. These bricks have been manufactured in Münster for more than 100 years and used for the exterior facades of buildings and courtyards. The white glazed clinker bricks of the eckstein also come from an old farmhouse kitchen in the Münster countryside. Through our processing, we are now bringing these back into the interior of homes.
Processing:
With the support of Hagemeister, a regional clinker brick factory, the clinkers were cut into cubes to be further processed by hand. The initial rough grinding was followed by assembling them into sets of 4, which were then ground to a uniform height. The existing hole was enlarged by drilling on one side, and the stones were finally fine-polished.
Application:
Whether as an egg cup, candle holder, or toothbrush holder - the hole variants and writable glaze side offer versatile uses and make the eckstein individually applicable.
